Wash Rider announces the PaddleJet for kayaks and skis
PRESS RELEASE: Wash Rider paddling gear
Sydney, Australia -
Wash Rider paddling equipment is proud to announce the latest addition to our product line-up with the PaddleJet – the first retrofit jet engine for paddlers. Inspired by envy of the cycling communities move into e-bikes we’ve sought to provide the same benefits to the paddling community. The PaddleJet is the perfect upgrade for your ski if you are lacking that bit of speed to paddle over the backs of waves, post a sub 3min kilometre or harass hoons on jet skis.
Sneak preview of the power that is PaddleJet:
Assembly of the PaddleJet is easy. All that is required is a vacuum bag set up, a commercial oven as big as your surf ski or kayak and advanced knowledge of composite material practices.
The kits (250W or 400W) are easily assembled by paddlers at home where you store your industrial setup. Made to fit most of the major brands of surfskis and kayaks with only a small 5cm hole to be drilled through the hull (and deck if a surfski). When not turned on it adds only as much drag as a venturi cover turned forwards.
Made entirely from high-grade materials of titanium and carbon fibre the 250W engine only weights 380 grams. The larger 400W unit utilises the same jet setup but comes with a larger battery which weights approximately 570 grams (engine and battery). From consulting with some of the countries best jet ski builders we’ve gained the confidence to open the PaddleJet with a 10-year limited warranty*.
*10 year warranty not available on PaddleJet installed by DIY.
For the full specifications and proper accurate information on this paddling product, consult the comments section on Surfski.info.
The PaddleJet kits will be available for order on April 1 for $2170 with shipments expected to arrive to paddlers worldwide in April 1 2024. Consult your kayak or surfski manufacturer for dates on when they will be installing the PaddleJet into their production runs.

As much as we wish we could get some extra speed for chasing swell or racing the flat water, this is of course an April Fools’ Day joke.
For those who are disappointed it’s not true, don’t worry, we’re not going to give you up.

Love it! This is just what I’ve been needing when escaping giant bull sharks that pursue me in the Brisbane River.

For real though, July 2024??
