ICF Marathon Classic Series: Regata Internacional Del Rio Negro (Argentina) 0
The Regata Internacional Del Rio Negro is a stage race run on the Black River which crosses the entire province of Rio Negro in northern Patagonia. There are 6 stages broken into 2-day blocks with a rest day after every 2 days. Paddlers who thrive in the Rio Negro will be comfortable racing in the heat, asserting themselves in mass starts, handling large river eddies and spending the first hour of each day doing sprints on and off as the front pack of 20-30 paddlers thins itself down to the lead group and chasers behind. What kayak or ocean ski racing rules would you change? 2
This blog is a recap of phone call with a paddling friend musing on two different questions; “If you could change/add/remove one single rule in paddle racing, what would it be?” and the far less ethical question “How would you mechanically dope (cheat) in paddling?”. What would be the one rule you would change and how would you modify your paddling gear to go faster?

ICF Marathon Classic Series: Tour de Gudenaa Marathon (Denmark) 0
Being an amateur paddler is great fun. Like many amateur paddlers I like to get my value out of a race. Some amateur paddlers like to quantify that race value with a positive $/km ratio on race entries, a mate of ours explained when answering why he prefers ultramarathon canoe races over sprints. Applying this logic, the Danish ultra-marathon race the Tour de Gudena delivers excellent value!
